USAF™ - Aerial Warfare T-Shirt - Black

AERIAL WARFARE – SKY DOMINANCE

The United States Army Air Corps (USAAC) served as the aerial warfare component of the United States Army between 1926 and 1941. It was renamed from the earlier United States Army Air Service on July 2, 1926, and remained part of the larger Army structure.

On June 20, 1941, it became the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF), gaining greater autonomy. During World War II, although not a separate administrative branch, the Air Corps remained one of the Army’s combat arms until 1947, when it was formally dissolved with the creation of the Department of the Air Force.

During World War II, the U.S. government created posters and materials to help distinguish between friendly and enemy aircraft, reducing the risk of misidentification. Each aircraft shown reflects the common ground-angle silhouettes used for recognition.

This design highlights early propeller-driven aircraft used during WWII, including fighter planes like the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, and P-39 Airacobra, as well as larger aircraft such as the A-20 Havoc, B-17 Flying Fortress, and B-24 Liberator.
